FRÖBEL, domiciled in Blaufelden, Baden-Wuerttemberg, has developed a high-quality community mask for the fight against COVID-19 together with its partner company AKO Kunststoffe Alfred Kolb GmbH in Hoffenheim. Of the 40 injection molding machines installed at Fröbel, ranging from 150 to 6,000 kN in clamping force, 36 are from WITTMANN BATTENFELD, among them large machines from the MacroPower series, all-electric machines from the EcoPower series, as well as machines from the servo-hydraulic SmartPower series. The robots, a total of 30, have also come from WITTMANN BATTENFELD.

One of the machines’ attributes is high energy efficiency, an aspect of particular importance to both CEO's of the company. The high process stability and easy operation of the machines, as well as their integrated robot concepts, are also appreciated at Fröbel.

Valves for respiratory masks from Oldrati

Oldrati, based in Villongo, Italy, uses its expertise in manufacturing full-face snorkeling masks for the fight against COVID-19. The company is producing high-quality respiratory masks for use in hospitals. The valves for these masks are manufactured on an EcoPower 180 COMBIMOULD injection molding machine from WITTMANN BATTENFELD.

To manufacture its products, the Oldrati group uses injection molding machines with clamping forces ranging from 350 to 40,000 kN. MACK, based in Altenmarkt on the river Triesting, Lower Austria, has been supplying high-grade plastic parts and assemblies to a wide range of different industries for decades. One of the company’s latest products is a COVID 19 face shield which protects the eyes, nose and mouth. Injection molding machines from WITTMANN BATTENFELD, ranging from 220 to 1800 kN in clamping force, are used to make the frames and straps for this product. Lab on a chip

An example for the application of the MicroPower machine, a machine which has been specially designed for the production of small and micro parts and which is predestinated for the medical industry, is the fabrication of a so called lab on a chip. This part is a 2-component application, which is produced under clean room conditions on an equipment consisting of 2 MicroPower machines.

The term "lab on a chip" designates a micro fluidic system which scales down certain selected functions of conventional labs to the dimensions of a microchip, using only minute volumes of fluid. With tis technology, fluids such as blood can be completely and automatically analyzed on a single chip.

Roughly 80 per cent of the injection molding products manufactured by the family-owned, Upper Austrian Company KWK (Kunststoffwerk Kremsmünster) are primary packaging components for the pharmaceutical industry. The portfolio includes closures for glass and plastic bottles, with or without tamper evidence rings, with or without integrated desiccants, dropper nozzles, sealing liners, pouring spouts and dosage syringe adapters, as well as dosage spoons, dosage cups and cream jars.

For the production of dosing spoons, WITTMANN BATTENFELD could deliver a machine of the all-electric EcoPower series combined with a WITTMANN W832 UHS (ultra-high-speed) linear robot for fast parts removal, a further W832 stand-alone robot for finished parts handling and a packaging system positioned parallel to the machine`s non-operator side.
